ValWood is a licensed construction company in the Leiria District with a clear direction: new construction today, development tomorrow, and a role in solving Portugal's housing crisis as fast as possible.
Founded on more than 25 years of construction experience, we started with renovations and remodeling and quickly saw where the real need was. Portugal needs homes. New, quality, affordable homes. That's where we're going.
We still take on remodeling, renovation, and storm restoration projects for homeowners across Central Portugal, and we bring the same standard to every job. But our eyes are forward. Every project we take on is a step toward becoming a leader in affordable housing development.

Valwood works through two divisions: Construção e Remodelações for building, restoration and roofing; and Serviços e Manutenções for maintenance and repairs.
Our primary focus and where we're headed. Residential and small commercial builds from the ground up. Site preparation, structural work, and finishing, all managed under one roof. Every new build is a step toward our goal of becoming a leader in affordable housing development in Portugal.

Yes. We help navigate the licensing process, including the requirements under Simplex Urbanístico. We work with your architect and engineers to make sure submissions are complete and compliant, which is the single biggest factor in avoiding delays.
It depends on the size and complexity of the project. A standard residential build typically takes 12 to 18 months from approved permits to handover. We provide a detailed timeline before work begins and keep you updated throughout. Licensing timelines are separate and depend on the municipality.
Yes. We collaborate with architects and engineers on every new build. If you already have a team in place, we integrate with them. If you need recommendations, we can connect you with trusted professionals we work with regularly.
Yes. This is a core part of where ValWood is headed. We understand the current incentive programs, including the 6% VAT rate, IMT exemptions, and CIA investment contracts. Whether you're an individual building your first home or a developer planning rental housing, we can help you take advantage of what's available.
Yes. We prepare detailed damage reports, coordinate directly with insurance adjusters, and follow insurer repair guidelines. For storm damage, we can begin emergency stabilisation while the claim is being processed.
Yes. Our founder is a native English speaker and the entire process, from estimates to project management, can be conducted in English. This is particularly useful for international property owners and expatriate residents.
Yes. Valwood holds Alvará 118010 (PAR), the official Portuguese construction industry licence. We carry full civil liability and worker insurance. Our licence number appears on every estimate and in the footer of this site.
